AMD has extended and productized Open64 with optimizations designed for x86 multi-core processor advancements and multi-threaded code development. How does it compare in terms of code optimization and adoption to other compilers? Development has ceased, although other projects can use the project's source. For instance, it can produce machine code that runs as fast as possible on the latest Intel processor using all available instructions let's say AVXbut will also run on much older systems falling back to slower, compatible code.
It now mostly serves as a research platform for compiler and computer architecture research groups.

Retrieved 12 November The original version of Open64 that was released in was missing its very advanced software pipelining code generator, and had only a rudimentary code generator for Itanium.
I think this compiler - both the upstream Open64 and the AMD fork - ooen64 discontinued.
